Optics from Germanium

Germanium has valuable optical characteristics — the ability to pass infrared rays.
Optical parts from germanium have found wide application in night vision devices, passive thermal imaging systems, computer technology, firefighting systems, aviation technology, Earth exploration from satellites … In addition to that, germanium is used in optical devices for infrared spectroscopy and infrared detectors. Optics from Germanium are used in CO2 lasers (gas).

  • The refractive index is 4.1 ÷ 4.0, depending on the wavelength of the radiation.
  • The transmission in the IR spectral range is 3000 to 5000 nm, 8000 to 12000 nm.

The products are manufactured according to the technical requirements and specifications of the customer.
